There are twelve Colleges at The University of Melbourne. All seek to help university students make the difficult transition from school to university. All provide an excellent opportunity to develop academically and socially. What makes Whitley College so special?
As secure as it is friendly, the College encourages an open and accepting community which residents affectionately know and love as the "Donut".
Our building is round, a symbol of our philosophy. In our building, there are no corners to get lost in. Everyone is accessible; no one is tucked away from the community. Our rooms are the same size; everyone is important. Half of our rooms face towards the inside, half face the outside. We believe that university involves a process of looking out, engaging the world as you apply what you are learning at university. University is also about looking in, getting to know yourself better, connecting with those in our community, and developing skills that will make you much more effective in the world outside.
Please spend some time looking around. By doing so, you will get a feel for what really makes us unique. Any residential community's strength is in its students. Our students are wonderful, warm people who are willing to have a go.
